The people spreading disinformation about Health Care Reform have a right to be wrong. THEY ARE WRONG! We absolutely need Health Care Reform, including a Public Option.

President Obama, please know that the vast majority of Americns STAND WITH YOU. Please, keep on working to get honest, accurate information to people to SUPPORT Health Care Reform! This is an historic moment. We need your leadership. We are very proud of you!

Thanks and regards,

Yes, Scott, you are an idiot! You have virtually no idea of what you're talking about and are only serving to scare people who don't know better. I'm sure you're operating on the presumption that nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people and you should be ashamed of yourself. But no, not you! You actually have the gaul to carry on as if you're the one helping people out. You lost because you are a looser. Stop crying like one.

And the truth is, Obama's health care plan merits a look and not just crazy conservatives shouting at it, with "death panels" and "I'm fishy"s and "socialism"s all over the place. Obama's trying to combat disinformation, not free speech. He wants to know what's out there, not who's speaking against him. Stop the scare tactics! (PS I am proudly posting this to I'm Fishy: Not, as the people there make more sense.)

Oh, please.
You are still free to speak freely about whatever you want, and nobody in the current or past administration is encroaching upon your precious comfortable free-to-speak lives. Nobody is going to steal your (dysfunctional and shortsighted) corporate healthcare. Settle down and stop fear-mongering...it's a democracy, it's America, and nothing is going to sway so far to the left or right that your everyday life will be affected. HAVE A NICE DAY and be grateful!

I support single payer universal healthcare.

I work in a hospital and have firsthand experience with our broken system.
To me the measure of a society is in how it takes care of it's people. The founding fathers called it the common good.
I think universal healthcare supports the common good and will help our society be more productive and inventive. And that will help us survive as a people and a country.

Let me get this straight, instead of intelligent discourse about healthcare, medicare, and helping the millions of uninsured Americans get the medical care they need, your organization is busy name-calling and spreading rumors about the content of the healthcare bill without even reading it. I hope ImFishy fails in its efforts. Just complaining, instead of working on feasible solutions to our failing health system is ridiculous, a waste of time and money- resources we don't have.

Just like Bush Jr., dissenting opinion is not permitted on "I'm Fishy". All opposing opinions will be moved to "I'm Fishy: Not" to insure that the truth doesn't get mixed up with the silly nonsense and distortions on this site. Obama is asking us to keep an eye out for misinformation and wilfull distortions (like this site) so they can get the accurate information out. Of course, you wouldn't be interested in that would you?

i confess i'm guilty of thinking fishy thoughts. if i lived in china i would probably have to be re-educated, but since i don't know what it means to have "fishy thoughts" in a democratic society other than wanting seafood for dinner, i'll just have to blunder along turning myself in for all sorts of mundane things!

Just like it's your right to move my post to imfishy not (which I'm sure you will), it's mine to forward a chain message full of misguided facts to whomever I please, gov't officials included. If you take issue w/ the healthcare plan (as I myself do), fine, but don't try to spin this into a free-speech issue when it's not. If the gov't were to PUNISH you for these erroneous emails, that would be alarming. Simply collecting them doesn't bother me and shouldn't be cause for a gimmicky website.

The paranoia and lack of logic here is just incredible. The White House request wasn't about reporting _people_, it was about reporting _myths_. They want to address the myths flying around, so they asked for public help to find out what those myths are. If sometime in the next several months a story emerges that says as a result of one of these tips the feds came out and arrested someone or shut down someone's myth-spreading site, I'll eat my words.

You have no clue what is going on out there. They want to hear the rumors too so they know what they have to defend against. I tell you what, live for one year without any medical coverage, just one year and see how much you pay when you go to the doctor just for a check up. Or just to get the doctor to check out a little rash, then you will understand why they are pushing health care reform.

Are you people absolutely moronic?

Why not FIND OUT what's ACTUALLY in the bill??

The President's plan CREATES COMPETITION versus the insurance companies- Isn't that what we want?

Nothing is mandatory, and the Insurance companies (along with Fox News) are trying to keep hold of their monopolies!

There are 47 MILLION Americans who have no healthcare!

WHY are you believing the propaganda?

Please move this email to I'm Fishy! Not! I am tired of outright lies being passed as facts (Hellooooo Death Panels). Real discussion of policies have been replaced by who can shout the loudest and say the most outrageous things. I am all for the right to free speech but the people responsible for shaping public policy (reporters, public servants, etc.) should at least stick to what is really being discussed and stop lying! By the way, thanks Scott for creating a spot for this viewpoint.

What do you nuts think Medicare is?
What do you think SOCIAL SECURITY is?

I am surprised you are satisfied with todays Insurance system..maybe that serves you well. This is for those who need an alternative. So if you like yours, keep it. Why fight others battles. We have heard so many lies from you right wing retards that are not even close to truth and outright delusional.

It's a little ironic how when the administration wants a better understanding where disinformation forms, it's suddenly Orwellian. However it's quite alright for the author of a fear-mongering website to "move" all of the opposing comments off the front page. Typical wingnut. No time for discussion as long as you're louder than everyone else in the room. I mean just look at the font size you chose...

Encroaching on civil liberties? HAHA. You're a moron. No one is stopping you from doing anything, including this stupid fear-mongering website. It's funny how when a politician takes interest in what's going on and being said so the it may be addressed, it's considered "encroaching on your civil liberties." Again, you=moron. All you need is a computer to keep the country in a state of havoc. What are you doing to HELP? Anyone can fling mud.

I have to wonder what insurance company is sponsoring this site. If the negative discourse on the healthcare issue were at all based in fact, I might agree with you, but as usual, the Republicans that run sites like this don't deal in facts, merely make up hot button issues to get people ramped up. Perhaps if they weren't on the take from the insurance industry, their stance would be different. Use your minds, people, and do your research before you jump on the bandwagon.

You should try reading. The White House program is about flagging and responding to misinformation, not identifying people. But hey, what's one more lie from the folks who want to preserve business as usual? As long as you're making up lies about euthanasia, abortion, rationing care... why not make up one more lie that lets you play the victim!? Maybe Ann Coulter can write a book about your victim complex too... let's have rational debate, not accuse the President of being a dictator...

Dave says :"KEEP YOUR PAWS OFF MY MEDICADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Dave, Medicaid is run by government. I'm dang glad to have that coverage.

You people disturb me. Do you really think it's better to have millions of people in the country uninsured? Were you complaining about your civil liberties during the Bush administration when we were being illegally monitored?

Guys, I really think you have misunderstood the President's request. His health care communications office is asking people to forward web-based disinformation about health care. Declaring yourself "fishy" means that what you have to say is factually incorrect. That is hardly a convincing message.

Mr. DeSapio,
You are clearly dishonest and contemptuous of our form of government and its constitution. You are not sharing your opinion, but intentionally fabricating lies in an attack on America. If democrats were doing the same thing I would be deeply embarrassed.
I know you are aware that our president is not encroaching on civil liberties but attempting to set the record straight for people that are genuinely confused by your campaign of disinformation. Shame on you.

8/12/2009 3:41:52 PM
This is interesting. The White House wishes to solicit information about the lies being told about health care reform so it can set the record straight and inform voters, and people here immediately jump to the conclusion that this is informing on your neighbors. So, the question then becomes, why are you so interested in having your lies unchallenged? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. They are not entitled to their own facts.

Why is it that the same people who bloviate about "the Obama administration encroaching on your civil liberties" had no problem with warrantless wiretaps, the suspension of habeas corpus or the rendition and torture of anyone committing the crime of being born in a third world country.

You morons couldn't explain socialism if you had to. But hey, let's keep having health insurance premiums go up 10% every year so insurance company executives can roll around in money. That's the American way: getting rich by screwing other people.
Jessica
8/12/2009 1:49:26 PM
I hope that we get National Health Care. I don't mind paying more so that other people can recieve life saving treatments. I don't believe it will cost us significantly more since more money will go to treatment instead of lining the insurance company's pockets.

Oh sweet irony of ironies - my previous post was deleted for expressing a dissenting opinion! Looks like Scott can dish it out, but can't take it.

The right was mostly silent when Bush spent eight years trampling over civil liberties. Supplying an email address does not vaguely resemble "gestapo tactics" or other such nonsense.

As I said before, give me a break.

Obama is right and health care needs to be reformed.

This message will be deleted by the administrators for expressing dissent.

I don't remember you morons wasting your money when George Bush did everything possible to squash any dissent of the Iraq war or questions about the general incompetence of his administration. Now Obama wants your @yahoo.com address and he's "encroaching on [our] civil liberties"? Give me a fucking break.

I don't understand this at all. I'm on all the Obama/Democrat contact lists and haven't ever been asked to turn in any 'fishy' people. I'd have surely have quite a list if they were to ask!
